Corunir examined the rubbings and explained that the runes were of an elvish mode but that the language was the Black Speech… He could understand enough of this foul language to see that they spoke of a heart within the stone.
We travelled across to Malenhad to collect a stone heart from one of the lifeless watching-stones. The heart, even though lifeless, seems to echo a fell power and I felt uneasy about retrieving it from the stone. However, when we returned to Corunir we found that it would not be of any use as it was cracked.
