The Tale of the Red Maid ~ 7

← The Tale of the Red Maid ~ 6

Wow I cannot believe how quickly time has gone and it has been nearly 3 months since the last episode.  Many apologies to those of you enjoying it, I am determined to get this tale finished.  I have next week’s instalment ready to go and I am working on formatting the screenshots and dialogue for the epic showdown with Ivar.  I should be able to have those ready soon, although it was extra challenging to screenshot as Eldaeriel and Dimzad cannot go back into the epic quest instance.  Then my final task is to wrap up the storyline with the relevant parts of the Garth Agarwen questline.

NB. The text is partly quoted directly from the quests themselves, partly adapted text from the quests and some original dialogue.  The questline is from the epic questline, The Tale of the Red Maid and is concluded through quests in Agamaur and Garth Agarwen.  All screenshots from Lord of the Rings online (I have played around with saturation, contrast etc a little).

The tale will continue here but I thought this might be a good time to point out some further reading about the history of Arnor, specifically the invasion by Angmar and Rhudaur (the war referenced above) and some interesting speculation about Tom Bombadil’s involvement.

In a nutshell, Arnor was divided into three Kingdoms (Rhudaur, Arthedain and Cardolan) who vied for control of the Palantir held at Amon Sul.  Arthedain and Cardolan became allies when it became known that Rhudaur had allied with Angmar (under the control of the Witch-King).   Part of the area that was under the power of Tom Bombadil at the time of the War of the Ring, was the ancient Kingdom of Cardolan – see the entry of Cardolan for this information and scroll down.
